Technisches Uhrenmuseum Chemnitz
Technical Clock Museum Chemnitz
You can discover the 150-year history of electrically controlled master clocks and signal clocks with 80 models from Germany, England and France. The 500-year history of the development of tower clocks can be experienced above all through exhibits from Saxon manufacturers such as Zachariä (Leipzig) and Hahn (Zwickau). Individual ringing devices such as railway chimes and electrically controlled clocks are also on display.
The Chemnitz Technical Clock Museum has been housed in the new premises on Zwickauer Straße since October 2010. In addition to presenting old technical clocks, the main aim of the association is to preserve and restore the artefacts in order to convey the technology, history and ingenuity that the old clocks possess.
The museum offers insights into the often hidden inner workings of mechanical tower clocks, allowing visitors to experience the unique interplay of the individual wheels, shafts and drive systems.
