Industrial Museum Chemnitz
The Chemnitz Industrial Museum is located at one of the central sites of Saxony's and Chemnitz's industrial history. In the factory hall built by Hermann and Alfred Escher in 1907, the Chemnitz Industrial Museum presents a permanent exhibition on Saxony's industrial history on 3,500 square metres - Experience Industry in Transition. On display are industrial products and consumer goods, everyday objects and luxury items that have been produced and consumed by the people of Saxony for more than two centuries. The museum offers its guests several special exhibitions, events, festivals and activities as well as an extensive museum education programme with regular creative holiday activities every year.
In reference to the Green Vault in Dresden, the depot and collection of the Chemnitz Industrial Museum is also known as the "Green Vault of Saxon Industrial History". The centrepiece of the museum, the collection, houses countless treasures from the industrial age. In addition to the history of technology, the collection's treasures include many other areas such as social, economic and art history from the beginning of the industrial age in Saxony to the present day.
